The Entrepreneurship Development Center (abbreviated as PPKwu) is one of the centers under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) at Sebelas Maret University Surakarta that focuses on the development of entrepreneurship and business for academic communities and society.
Initially, PPKwu was a non-structural institution that carried out entrepreneurship development programs since 1996, which was located within an institution named the Center for Entrepreneurship Development, in accordance with the Rector Decree No. 237/PT.40.H/I/1996 dated May 20, 1996. To respond to the growing demands of society, the Rector’s Decree No. 207/J27/PP/97 dated July 7, 1997 was issued to change the Center for Entrepreneurship Development into the Entrepreneurship Development Institute which had three centers, namely (1) Business Development Center (Pusbangnis), (2) Student Entrepreneurship Development Center (PPKM), and (3) Center for Development and Service of Intellectual Property Rights (P3HAKI).
At the beginning of 2003, in the context of institutional restructuring within the Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, a reorganization was carried out based on the Rector’s Decree No. 1b/J27/PP/2003 dated January 2, 2003, regarding the Reorganization and Integration of the Centers of the Universitas Sebelas Maret’s Entrepreneurship Development Institute (LPKwu) and the Dismissal of its Management Team. Furthermore, based on the Rector’s Decree No. 1D/J27/KP/2003 dated January 3, 2003 regarding the Transfer and Integration of the Center for Business Development (Pusbangnis) from the Institute for Entrepreneurship Development (LPKwu) to the Institute for Community Service of Universitas Sebelas Maret, the Center for Business Development (Pusbangnis) of LPKwu UNS was integrated into the LPM UNS and changed its name to the Center for Entrepreneurship Development
Based on Rector’s Decree No. 649A/J.27/KP/2004 dated October 30, 2004, regarding the establishment of the Institute of Research and Community Service of Universitas Sebelas Maret, the LPM UNS integrated into the Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM), and the Center for Entrepreneurship Development (PPKwu) became one of the centers within the LPPM institution.
Despite several changes in the institutional level, PPKwu remains existent and consistent with its vision and mission in developing entrepreneurship and business.
